It took me awhile to find this information so hopefully this will make it easier for others. Problem: Video card looks choppy when running graphic intensive processes. A simple way to see if it is not running right is to load TuxRacer and see if it is extremely laggy. Fix: Download and install the appropriate NVidia driver from NVidia's website for Linux and install it to the appropriate location. Open Konsole and navigate to root, launch "init 3" and bring up BASH terminal. Navigate to the /etc/X11 file. On my system I had to "vi XF86Config-4" file. I scrolled down to: Section "Device" Previously my file looked like this, Section "Device" Identifier "device1" VendorName "nVidia Corporation" Boardname "NVIDIA GeForce4 (generic)" Driver "nv" Option "DPMS" EndSection After searching the internet I found that this text add on works: Section "Device" Identifier "device1" VendorName "nVidia Corporation" Boardname "NVIDIA GeForce4 (generic)" Driver "nvidia" Option "DPMS" Option "IgnoreEDID" "1" Option "NvAGP" "1" EndSection I am new to Linux, so I assume others looking for this are also, this is case sensitive and of course I have previously downloaded the appropriate driver file from NVidia's website.
