Installing Fedora Core 6 on Toshiba Portege S100

This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6

Basic Installation of Fedora Core 6:

If only it could be described as basic!
Shrank NTFS partition and set up linux / swap and /home using QParted LiveCD (boy is that cool!)
DVD-ROM will boot from my FC6 DVD but won't OK the media test (though other machines will) and fails to read the RPM packages from the DVD
Succeeded by booting from DVD and doing an NFS installation from the DVD distro unpacked and exported from one of my desktops
linux noprobe askmethod at the boot prompt then select the Marvell ethernet driver
Critical difference from FC4 & FC5 (which failed) is that FC6 pays attention to the noprobe so that ata_piix does not grab the ICH6M before ahci can - which blocks access to the hard drive
Once NFS mounted distro recognised added ahci driver before proceeding through rest of install without trouble.
