I need to spec up a laptop that has the horsepower to run our company's product for demos. Our product involves running Red Hat Advanced Server 3.0 (the only listed supported devices are the Compaq Evo, HP Nx and IBM Thinkpad t4x), an Oracle 9i Enterprise database and a lot of heavy duty statistical analysis.
For that reason my shopping list needs:
High performance CPU: >= P4 3.6, unfortunately my boss hates Centrino
(he wrote a paper on the low performance on unified chipset architectures)
RAM: >= 2 Gb
Graphics: Good performance Nvidia or ATi because we do a lot of visualisation
I looked at Alienware and they just laughed when I mentioned Linux.
Could anyone suggest a good notebook that meets these sort of requirements and is reasonably Linux-friendly?
Regards
James
