Hello!

I have a cheap "whitebook" PS1 with dothan 1.73Ghz and a intel 915GM board. the lcd is a 15'' XGA (1024x768@60Hz)

I have tried to running knoppix dvd and fedora core 4 dvd, but I always get the same problem:
it seems the the graphics card and the screen are not recognized and the image is continuaslly flashing (I think linux somehow forces 73Hz!!) and not the resolution it should be. On knoppix is 640x480 and on fedora the image is too big (out of the screen) (although with small resolution as well).

I have tried to input commands like "linux resolution=1024x768" but still the result is the same.

Any thoughts on how I might solve this problem?

You willl likely need to give it a vga= line. vga=1024x... does not work, this link goes to a table that will be helpful: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Framebuffer-HOWTO-5.html. See section 5.3.

Good luck.

Well, I was able to install, although the grafics are still not working correctly.

I found out tha the intel 915 driver on the fedora 4 dvd is not working. I figure
I have to find a new driver and install it on the system.

Does anyone know where I can find a working intel 915 driver and how to install it?

many thanx!
